The 2022 Acura NSX Type-S

Shortly after its inception in 1986, Acura came forth with a model that shook up the competition in the universe of exotic cars. The first generation NSX had that little something that makes Italian creations magical, but also that other little Japanese thing that makes them unique and reliable.

The tone was set, and history has proven Honda's luxury brand right. Now a classic, the Acura NSX has only gone up in price in the antique car market.

A Bright Future

The current iteration of the technologically highly advanced Acura NSX, first presented as a concept at the dawn of 2013 and finally in its production configuration for 2017, has had an extraordinary career. However, its end is in sight for 2022, at least for the car's current form.

In fact, Acura leaves us with a more compelling Type S version than ever, only to return to us in an electrified form in the next few years.

Unique Guts

Before we get to what the 2022 Type S has in store for us, let's review the NSX's unique configuration. At its core is a twin-turbocharged V6 engine, a unit that teams up with three (yes, three!) electric drives. One is placed between the combustion engine and the nine-speed automatic transmission, while the other two serve both front wheels.

Of course, this guarantees all-wheel drive. This is a good thing, because with the power provided by this collaboration, maximum traction is required at all times. And, thanks to the magic of electrification, the NSX can also run completely silently over short distances.

As for the Type S version that will be offered in 2022, it will be even more powerful, gaining 27 horsepower for a jump from 573 to 600 horsepower. Torque is also increased, this time by 16 lb-ft to 492 lb-ft

Looking Sharp

Because it will be more powerful, because it will carry the Type S logo and because it will be more incisive, the new version sees its style being refined. In the end, we discover a model that has even more style. The nose, for example, is made up of more angular air intakes. Acura also worked on aerodynamics by redesigning the front spoiler so that it distributes the airflow under the car in a smarter way. At the rear, the diffuser has been enlarged in size. The 2022 Acura Type S will split the air like no other NSX before it

Otherwise, the model is spoiled with unique five-spoke wheels that have the effect of widening the car's tracks. Pirelli P-Zero tires have been developed and designed exclusively for this version. The engine cover won't be able to hide from view, as it borrows red, the signature colour of Acura's Type S approach.

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S features a carbon fibre roof, which lowers the car's centre of gravity for optimized handling. The adaptive shock absorber system has also been upgraded.

An Exhilarating Driving Experience

All this translates on the road into one thing: an exhilarating experience. Precise steering, a model that responds to our every whim, driving modes that allow you to adapt your behaviour to the type of road ahead. And what is most magical is that the NSX is a user-friendly car that can be used on a daily basis. Truly, a tour de force! Acura Plus Blainville, your dealer in Blainville, knows all about it!
