Introducing the Acura TLX, Next Generation Premium Sedan

Honda's founder, Soichiro Honda, would be absolutely proud of the all-new Acura TLX as it clearly recaptures the performance image that has long helped Honda's luxury brand to stand out. With a stylized design that seems faithful to the Japanese automaker, the 2021 TLX marks a return to shape by resurrecting the revered high-performance nameplate of the Type S. It's powered by a powerful turbocharged four-cylinder or a V6 turbocharged engine. Acura will also offer every TLX with its signature Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), which has become a must-have for the Japanese company. A new dedicated platform with a more sophisticated chassis should improve the car's ride and handling compared to the previous model. Likewise, the 2021 TLX receives a brighter interior that will help it better compete with rivals like BMW and Audi.

Acura Plus Blainville on Montreal's North Shore, near Laval, Sainte-Thérèse, Boisbriand, Terrebonne and Saint-Jérôme, enthusiastically presents the all-new generation of its 2021 TLX premium sedan.

A Sports Car at the Cutting Edge of Technology

The Japanese automaker is giving its best-selling TLX sedan a complete overhaul for 2021. The latest generation was nicknamed the “Seven-Second Knockout” during its development because the company wanted it to be much more exciting than the previous version, like the 2020 Acura TLX. The 2021 sports sedan will be even more distinctive, with longer, lower and wider stance, as well as more powerful engines, updated SH-AWD and enhanced chassis components. The legendary Type S model also joins the lineup for the first time since the 2008 TL, and we were told that the badge will also profile on other Acura models in the near future.

In addition, Acura TLX continues to offer a four- and six-cylinder engine. The standard mill is a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four that produces 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The redesigned sedan also sees a return to the brand's passionate roots with the Type S high-performance trim. This model alone gets the newly developed 3.0-litre turbocharged V6, which will be more powerful than the 290 horsepower 3.5-litre V6 in the outgoing model. It comes with Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system (SH-AWD).

While the regular TLX is equipped with front-wheel drive, it can also be used with the SH-AWD. Each version has a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the Type S gets a unique setting for even sportier handling. The 2021 TLX is built on an exclusive new platform with a double-wishbone front suspension that improves its ride and handling compared to the previous generation. The sedan now features variable ratio steering, a power brake system and adaptive shock absorbers available.

Inside, the 2021 TLX Type S has a more expressive design that aims to emphasize its sporty character with details that mimic the Acura RDX's luxury crossover, such as attractive analogue gauges and a rotating drive mode selector prominent in the middle of the dashboard; the sedan has a distinct aesthetic that is reinforced by Acura's excellent build quality.

In addition, the next-generation TLX also features even more pleasant cabin materials, including open-pored wood and genuine aluminum. Its new dimensions also offer more room for passengers. Its highly adjustable front seats and improved forward visibility will reward drivers well.

Finally, this luxury sedan offers a myriad of interior colours, distinct leather trim and desirable features. The latter include a large 10.5-inch head-up display and customizable ambient lighting settings, each named after iconic driving destinations and tracks such as “Pacific Coast” and “Suzuka”.
